Pet Allergy Testing & Dermatology
BEEVET Animal Hospital provides allergy and dermatology services for dogs and cats in Austin and Bee Cave. Our goal is to identify the underlying cause of your pet’s allergy or dermatology condition and administer effective treatments.
Identifying Pet Allergies
A majority of pet allergies are caused by external parasites, environmental allergens, or food allergens. We begin with an exam of your pet and will come up with a plan for maintenance and ongoing care. We may perform diagnostic tests such as a skin scrape, blood work, cytology, allergy testing, and more to help identify the underlying issue.
Common signs of pet allergies include:- Ear infections
- Hair loss
- Inflamed toes or ears
- Itchy skin (flaking skin and crusts, scabs)
- Scooting (anal gland issues)
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Coughing or sneezing
- Watery eyes
Pet Allergy Treatments
Most pets need more than just allergy treatment—we need to treat the underlying cause first, and address any secondary bacteria or yeast infections. There are several different treatment options that may include prescription hypoallergenic food trials, anti-itch medications, antifungals, shampoos, other topicals, antibiotics, and more to help bring relief to your pet. Our allergy treatments plans are designed to target the source of your pet’s specific allergen.
Pet Dermatology
Our veterinary team is experienced in the diagnosis and treatment of pet dermatology conditions. Pets with allergies, parasite infestations, or other illnesses often suffer from problems.
Common skin symptoms include:- Dry
